EVENT REPORT
Well what a fun event this
was to run and to watch, at least from the side of [EVE] staff. We
hope everyone had a great time and will come along to the next
Skirmish! Congratulations to the Winners!
1st Place: Oceania's Champion Skitter: ACE, owned
and trained by Snow.

2nd Place: Hopscotch Skitch, owned and trained by
Rhiannon.
3rd Place: Giant Mutant Bunny, owned and trained by
Arcadian Tor.
The day dawned bright and
sunny for the Skittering Skirmish Event. Players had a month to
tame, train and prepare for the event. The day arrived and [EVE]
promotion Llamas got to work giving everyone details. Some were very
eager to get on with it after the month of training! Arcadian Tor checks
in to make sure they are on time.

Registration commenced an hour before the
advertised fight time to ensure that spectators didn't have to wait to
long for matches to begin. Eleanora (on steps) and [EVE]'s newest Event
Manager, Arianne, greet the arrivals and register their hoppers as they
came. Each hopper was then friended to Elly who placed the hopper
in the waiting pits inside the Brackenwood Arena premises. The list of
entries in no particular order was:
Giant Mutant Bunny - Arcadian Tor (owner), Mangy - Cute
Cupid (owner), Hairy Hopper - Scarlet Moon (owner), Wozza -
Warrigul (owner), Fair Isle - Rowdy (owner), ACE - Snow
(owner), U Know Who's - Sleepy (owner), HopScotch Skitch -
Rhiannon (owner), Willy - Tim (owner), EVEill - Azazel
(owner), ET The Extraterrestrial - Lord Jacson (owner) & Spiderpig
- Cute Cupid (owner).
Some came along just to watch, and a place a bet on the fights.
Some names seen sneaking in the odd bet included: Gohan, Samuel, Tarpon,
Otari, Damis, Johan, Bandali, Miss Terrious, Taren Ar'Edhel with a few
who came along briefly such as Big Kev and Sandman [WRR]. (sorry if we
missed anyone!).

Some contenders put in some last minute
training prior to registration! Every little stat point would help!

Registration was completed
and the competing hoppers waited in the pits to be pulled out for their
matches. The crowd placed their bets with Thane in the arena
viewing area prior to each match commencing. Spectators could place
a 5k, 10k, or 25k bet on the hopper they thought would win. Those
with animal lore had the advantage but the crowd cottoned on very quickly
to see which hopper the experts went for. Once the hoppers were out and
waiting on their respective mats, the owners transferred ownership to
Elly who would issue the fight command. At the end of each battle
the winning hopper was returned to it's owner and place in the waiting
room for the next round.

There were two rounds of
matches to reduce our starting field of 12 to the final 3. The
recordings for each match follow:
Round 1
ET v Spiderpig, ET won
Mangy v Hairy Hopper, HairyHopper won
UKnow Who's v Wozza, Wozza won
EVEill v A.C.E., A.C.E. won
Giant Mutant Bunny v Willy, Bunny won
Hopskotch Skitch v Fair Isle, Hopskotch won
Round 2
A.C.E. v ET, A.C.E. won
HairyHopper v Hopskotch, Hopskotch won
Giant Mutant Bunny v Wozza, Bunny won
Here are
some of the action shots taken during the battles. Each match eliminated
a hopper 'permanently' from the field, it was a ruthless selection
process with the loser sent to meet the UO Gods while the bloodthirsty
crowd cheered on the winners!

At last we arrived at the
final three. Due to the sudden death of the loser, we couldn't run
a 'best of three matches' LOL. So to ensure each hopper had at least
someone to fight the owners rolled for the chance to fight the 'house
ringer' a hopper bought in to sacrifice for the final three
eliminations. Whoever rolled lowest would fight the first final
against the 'ringer' and the other two would battle it out to leave us
with the final two. Rhiannon scored the lowest roll so her Hopper
Hopskotch went against the 'ringer' (who appeared to be much less than
his name of Mighty Terror implied), and ACE and Giant Mutant Bunny
battled it out in the other 'final'. Hopskotch and ACE won
their battles and then fought for 1st & 2nd spots in the Grand Final
bout. Giant Mutant Bunny was placed 3rd.

It was a close fought battle
with evenly spaced bets on both contenders. In the end ACE got the
upper hand and sent Hopskotch to Hopper heaven, but not without him
scoring the second place prize for his owner Rhiannon. Each
contestant was then awarded their prize to the cheers of the crowd and
received the accolades they so richly deserved for their efforts.

Staff at EVE-vents (Arianne, Thane, Morticia and myself)
would like to thank all participants for the effort they put in in
training their hoppers, some of which were maxed out and had obviously
been under the care of dedicated owners. It was a fun event for us
and we hope all who participated either by entering a hopper or who just
came along for the betting had a great time. We gave out 650k in
total to our punters on win bets so hopefully you all made a
little!
Regards
Eleanora.
For the final prize of the best named hopper please take
part in our small webpoll contest. Voting stops 10 pm aest on

Hail and Well Met! Ever wanted to have a pet and see if it is the strongest, the best, and a peer among it's kind?
If so then this is the EVENT for you!
As with any good event however, it will require some pre-planning and effort on your part.
EVENT DETAILS
The challenge is on to find the Oceania's BEST Skittering Hopper. Now anyone can tame one of these varmints, so there is no excuse for anyone not being able to participate!
The aim is to go out into the wilds of Malas, tame yourself one of these
critters, and either just bring it along on the day, or train it up to be
THE strongest and most fierce-some of the hopper variety to try and grab
the title of 'Oceania's Champion Skitter' along with the winner trophy
and prize!
Now nearly everyone knows a tamer, so you can find
one to Lore
your beast to make sure you get a good'un, and you can either train it
yourself by fighting it against whatever critters you think it can handle
(ie chickens, frogs, other hoppers etc) until it is a ready or use your
own tamer to train it up and transfer to the character who will be entering
the event with it! With 0 taming skill you can still tame one of these,
although sometimes it will take a 'few' attempts!
On the day, you will fight your pet against it's peers, until we are left
with our overall Champion Skitter. Each fight will be to the DEATH
and there will be no vetting! Your Skitter must perform without aid,
other than the initial command of 'ALL KILL' !
THE PRIZES
1st - Oceania's Champion
Skitter: Gold Champions Trophy, 2 mil gold, a Soulstone Fragment, a Heritage Token and another item to be
decided.
2nd - Runner Up: Silver Trophy, 1 mil gold and a Heritage Token.
3rd - Third: Bronze Trophy, 500k gold and a Heritage Token.
There will also be a prize for:
Best NAMED Hopper: 500k gold and a Heritage Token
THINGS TO NOTE
Because the event is in Malas, the character entering the EVE-vent will
need to be Guilded! This should NOT be a problem as you do NOT
need your main characters to enter, just give your Hopper to any spare
character, even a newbie char just created for the event or your
crafter, who can enter and join the guild on the day. The only character
requirements are to say 'all kill' and to be able to join the guild for
the duration of the event.
Since being informed of the inability to 'bond' a
hopper it will definitely be a fight to the death each round! So that at
least makes it a challenge!
For those of you who are community minded, please pass the details of
this event to those on our shard who do not read Stratics. There are a
LOT of them. Although I will be dropping books etc between now and the
event, everyone will need at least 2 weeks to prepare for training. Any
help in this regard is appreciated!
So you have a month to obtain and train your hopper to the character you wish to
enter!
For your convenience I have extracted the following information from the
Stratics Hunter's Guide so you may view the abilities of the average
Hopper.

Amendments to original post.
Well having experimented a little there is no longer any need to join a guild for this event. Hope you all have your hopper's ready to go this Sunday, if not don't despair, you still have time and will even have time up until an few mins before the matches!
The way it will now work is when you register (your character and hopper name) you will friend your hopper to myself, and I will stable it in the blue and red waiting pits on the lower level. You will then proceed upstairs to the viewing area to watch the matches.
As I pull a pair of hoppers (one from each bay) to the arena fighting area, you will be asked to transfer your hopper to me, which may be done from your upstairs seat. After the fight one hopper will remain and it will be transferred back to the owner, who will refriend me, until the next bout. (the other will unfortunately be a splatter on the ground, kinda like roadkill).
This procedure will be the same until all bouts are completed and we have a winner.
Each fight will be able to be bet on, bets for 5, 10 and 25k will be accepted per bout and an atm will be available on site for those wishing to have a flutter. If your hopper wins you will get your money back twice, so for a 25k bet you will be returned 50k. If you bet on the roadkill, then better luck next time!
Don't forget it is on this Sunday at 1pm. No skill is required to participate, any character can tame a hopper so it should be a fun afternoon. Runes to the arena are on steps of the Emporium SW Luna City and the prizes are well worth the attempt. There will be gates on the day to the venue.
THE PRIZES
1st - Oceania's Champion Skitter: Gold Champions Trophy, 2 mil gold, a Soulstone Fragment, a Heritage Token and another item to be decided.
2nd - Runner Up: Silver Trophy, 1 mil gold and a Heritage Token.

There will also be a prize for:

Be creative in your hopper naming!
Hope to see you all there!
