Note: this quest may only be done ONCE per character.
Visit Gareth the Emissary of the RBC currently located in the 'Sons of the Sea'
in Trinsic, co-ords 106o36'S 49o17'E (was previously located in the Parliament of
Magincia), who will welcome you "Hail! Care to join our efforts for the Rise of Britannia?" Double Click him and accept the quest.
He will then test you on your knowledge of humility by asking you some questions (about 4) in random order. Note: if you get an answer wrong you will need to return the next day to continue, so it pays to answer correctly!
The questions and answers are located (do not click if you wish to figure them out for yourself!) HERE
Once you have answered the questions he will issue you a further 3 quests which require you to donate.
1. Visit the Vesper Museum and donate enough (5000 points) to receive 'A Replica of the Shepherd's Crook of Humility'
2. Visit Moonglow Zoo and donate enough (5000 points) to receive a 'For the Life of Britannia' Sash
3. Visit Britain Library and donate enough (5000 points) to receive a 'Special Printing of "Virtue" by Lord British'.
Note: You must complete the first quest he gives you and return the 'reward' you receive to him (toggle quest item to give) before he will issue the second etc. All three of these quests require 5000 donation points before the 'reward' will appear as an option in the 'rewards part of the
gump'. To get the donation points you may donate enough items to the relevant
NPC (eg wood, leathers, bucklers etc depending on NPC, or donate cash. If
donating cash you will need a check for 75,000 gps to obtain 5000 points per quest.
Note: you may keep any one (1) of these rewards (Crook, Sash or Book) if you do not wish to continue the quest from that point in the chain, however the quest will stop for you at that point unless you hand in that item. If you
accidentally cancel the quest at any point you will be offered it again, however if you have already claimed a 'reward' from one of the above this MUST be handed in to continue. If you cancel the quest and get Gareth to offer it again, you will NOT be able to obtain a further reward of the same type already issued, this applies even if you donate a
further 5000 points. The only way to continue is to give him the item he requests! So in other words you can NEVER get another Shepherd's Crook once a particular character has had it issued to them once.
Once you have returned all three donation quest items he will thank you and offer you the next quest : 'Who's most Humble' Objective = 'Iron Chain'. He will give you a 'plain grey cloak' to wear which will identify you, and a brass ring. You will be asked to visit 7 NPC's (all located in towns in Trammel and/or Fel) one of which will take the brass ring and give you another item.
NPC / Identifying Greeting Text / Location
Maribel the Waitress: You, in the grey cloak, art thou hungry? (Britain-Trammel)
Deidre the Beggar: The cloak thou wearest looks warm. (Britan-Felucca)
Kevin the Butcher: Art thou hiding under that cloak? (Minoc-Trammel)
Sean the Blacksmith: That grey cloak is very nice. (Minoc-Felucca)
Jasen the Healer: Thou looketh like a fellow healer in that cloak.(Skara Brae-Trammel)
Walton the Horse Trainer: A horse blanket would offer more comfort than thine cloak,
mayhaps. (Skara Brae-Felucca)
Nelson the Shepherd: I doth have a similar cloak. (Haven-Trammel)
Note: the NPC's move around the towns so you may need to run around a little to look for them. It is best to have your journal open when doing this so that you see the 'greeting text' and the
'npc name' in amongst the other town spammers. Once you locate them talk to them and they will either tell you they have an item, or want an item. One of them will TAKE the brass ring, given to you by Gareth, and issue you another item. Which item each npc wants or has, and the one who takes the ring is completely RANDOM.
(ie it changes each quest so if you and a friend are both doing the quest the items will differ on each
NPC)
To make this part of the quest easy I recommend you get a pencil and paper ready to record who wants what. I have found it most efficient to visit ALL the
NPC's FIRST and record similar to this:
____________________________________________________________________
Eg: Sample run through:
(remember what each npc wants is random so this is just what 'I' was asked for when completing this part, it will be different for you)
Visit all seven (7) npcs and talk to them they will ask for something or say they have something to trade, record as such:
Maribel: wants Seasoned Skillet
Sean: wants a Short Stool
Jasen: wants a Worn Hammer
Deidre: has Village Cauldron
Kevin: has Work Gloves
Nelson: has Short Stool
Walton: takes brass ring and gives Worn Hammer.
Once you have visited all 7 and one has taken the ring and given you another item it is then a process of elimination. In my 'run through' I know that Jasen wanted the hammer given to me by Walton, so :
# Takes worn hammer to Jasen, gets Seasoned Skillet.
# Maribel takes Seasoned Skillet, given to me by Jasen, and gives a Friendship Mug (Diedre, Kevin or Nelson will want this item as they have something to trade and it is not required by the others, so you need to revisit these three until you find the one who takes the mug)
# Kevin accepts the Mug and gives Work Gloves. (Deidre or Nelson will want this)
# Deidre accepts Work Gloves and gives a Village Cauldron. (Nelson will want this)
# Nelson takes the cauldron and gives Short Stool
# Sean takes the Short Stool and gives the 'Iron Chain' which needs to be returned to Gareth.
____________________________________________________________________
When you return to Gareth, toggle quest item and give him the Iron Chain, he will accept it and offer you a reward of a Golden Shield.
You may take this as the reward and it will end the quest, if you REFUSE the reward he will leave you the grey cloak 'to do with as you wish' then advise you to seek solace at the Shrine of Humility located on the 'Isle of the Avatar' (Isle of Fire, north-west of Hythloth Dungeon).
Proceed to the Shrine, as you get close the following will occur:
"As you near the shrine a strange energy envelops you. Suddenly, your cloak is transformed into the Cloak of Humility!"
The grey cloak disappears and the Cloak of Humility appears in your backpack!
The Quest is Complete!
Have fun and good questing!
